Under 9s
Round 3 – North Sydney Brothers U9s lost to Willoughby Roos U9s 12 – 36

Under 9s put in a solid effort despite going down to the talented Willoughby Roos team for the second time in a fortnight. For Brothers, tries were scored by Leo Sommers and Aaron Lim but it is on the defensive side of the ball that the side needs to improve in coming weeks. With strong numbers at games and training, it is only a matter of time before results start to swing Brothers’ way.

Under 10s
Round 3 – North Sydney Brothers U10s beat Lane Cove Tigers U10s 44 – 4

Under 10s bounced back with a dominant display against the undefeated Lane Cove U10s at Tunks Park. Bertie Owens ran riot in attack with 3 tries, whilst Jack Burgun, Ramond Moran, Toby Uys, Ben Bailey and Sarah Lichaa also bagged 4 pointers. The focus this week was defence, and the team lifted with some inspirational tackling efforts. Toby Uys (15 tackles), Joe Capelin (11 tackles) and Iggy Findlay (10 tackles) topped the tackle count, but everyone pitched in on the day in defence to stifle the Lane Cove attack.

Under 11s
Round 3 – North Sydney Brothers U11s beat Berowra Wallabies U11s 40 – 10

The Under 11’s opened their account for 2023 with a dominant win over the Berowra Wallabies 40 – 10. The team has been tested by a cruel draw and availability issues to start the season but look set to start a run of strong performances. Stand out players on the weekend were the hard running Flynn Daggett and long striding Leon Walsh.

Under 13s Silver
Round 4 – North Sydney Brothers U13s beat Cromer Kingfishers U13s 36 – 4

The Under 13s went up to the beaches and claimed their first win of the season with a 36 – 4 demolition of Cromer. The 13s took control of the match early with 1st half tries to Max Pearson, a dummy half snipe from Eddie Ohlsson for a try and a bustling run from Justin Barba which saw him cross to give Brothers a 12 – 0 lead at the half. The second half saw Brothers pour more misery on Cromer with tries to Jack Matthews, Archie Keegan, Tom McKay (2) and new recruit Jack Fullilove. The platform was laid by the forwards with Phoenix Hatton, Justin Barba, Archi Keegan, Zac Prior and Kim Arnesen (off the interchange bench) all racking up strong carries. All 20 available players got game time with the players coming off the interchange bench adding plenty of spark. With the first W of the season and a second team kicking off in the bronze division, the u13s age group is building nicely.

Under 14s Girls League Tag
Round 1 – North Sydney Brothers U14s beat Asquith Magpies U14s  24 – 14

It was a great atmosphere at Tunks Park for the last game of the day, as the U14s League Tag Girls looked to bounce back from a disappointing effort the previous week. After a strong showing at training, the girls came out firing, eventually prevailing 24 – 14 in a tight contest between two willing sides. Charlise Cannon (Right) and Claudia Taylor (Left) were magnificent in the first receiver role, organising the team in attack and showing superb ball skills as the ball travelled through one of their hands on every tackle of the match. Tries were scored by Abi Paki (2) and Mischa Saunders (2) who grabbed another double to take her season total to 7 tries in 3 matches. Avril O’Brien scored a try off a Charlise Cannon kick, showing great determination and persistence to get the ball down, whilst Charlotte Thomas, Lily Kitchen, Saskia Uys, Lauren Murray, Lucy Proctor and Sofia Le Bouriscot all had some great runs and worked hard in defence. The girls will be looking to show the same effort in attack and defence this week.

PLAYER/VOLUNTEER/SPECTATOR CONDUCT
Please keep North Sydney Brothers Club values RESPECT, FUN and COMMUNITY at front of mind when playing and spectating. Players should play within the rules and with good sportsmanship. Spectators should also support their team in a positive manner.
PLAYERS/COACHES/SPECTATORS: Please ensure your children understand CLEARLY that under no circumstances are they to argue, approach, threaten or abuse a referee. There are very stern consequences for both the player and their team. Most referees in our district are young people who love the game, they are vital to the game and yes they do make mistakes. Players make mistakes too….I always say, how would you feel if your child was abused by a stranger every time they dropped the ball or missed a tackle.  Same goes for coaches and spectators, positive support only, no comments about match officials or the opponents. If you encounter any issues with other spectators, do not engage, please alert the ground manager.

Good luck to all our teams this week.

Go Brothers!
