2022 Season Summary

2022 was a very successful season for North Sydney Brothers JRLFC both on and off the field.

  • Strong Registrations across all ages. Brothers fielded teams in U6, U8s, U9s, U10s, U12s Gold and Silver, U14s silver, U16s Combined with Lane Cove and U20s.
  • Player numbers were higher across all these teams, making up for the loss of an A grade Men’s and Open Women’s team from 2021.
  • First preseason trial matches for a number of years with U8s, U9s and U10s playing a pre-season match against Leichhardt Juniors which we will likely do again in 2023.
  • Under 6’s was particularly pleasing and reflects the success of the inaugural roll out of the League Ready program. Parent and player feedback on League Ready was overwhelmingly positive and will no doubt help player retention and recruitment in the Under 6’s and Under 7’s next year. Brothers had one of the largest U6s groups in the entire District.
  • U10s – Division 1 Premiers defeating PH Cherrybrook Stags 46 -12.
  • U9s – Division 1 Grand Finalists lost to Willoughby Roos 18 -24
  • U16s – Combined Grand Finalists lost to Mascot Jets 12 – 28
  • U14s Semi Finalists
  • Both U12s made it to the first week of the semis
  • U8s semi-finalists in the Holy Cross U8s Knockout tournament
  • Significant amount of wet weather – congratulations to the coaches who improvised with training sessions on the beach, in car parks and on netball courts.
  • Brothers again ran the “play for free” initiative which has been integral for rebuilding the club’s playing numbers. The sporting landscape of the Lower North Shore is super competitive and this has given us the ability to give kids a taste of RL and then focus on retaining them.
  • Finances are healthy with generous sponsors, a successful fundraising lunch, record canteen takings and club raffle.
  • End of season presentation days with trophies, successfully held.
  • Other initiatives in 2022 – Club Supporter Merchandise, Club Social media activity increased, weekly newsletter
  • The 2022 North Sydney Brothers Committee did a fantastic job in 2022 and remain focused on continually improving the experience for everyone involved with the club. The goal will always be player enjoyment, retention and creating an environment that welcomes new players and their families.
  • North Sydney Brothers carries lots of goodwill and positive momentum into the 2023 season with strong performances on the field, some great social events and well attended presentation events. For 2023 the club will continue to focus on recruitment, player and coach development, player retention, player/parent/supporter and sponsor engagement and promoting a fun and inclusive environment.
